Random Questions:

  • Whiteboard, empty or covered?
    • (I miss my classroom chalkboards)
  • Computer desktop cluttered or empty?
  • Personal desk cluttered or empty?
  • Desk at work cluttered or empty?

Random Thoughts:

  • I have lived in six different cities so far – but none of the six is in my two three favorite cities of all time (although Bangkok ranks as my number 4 favorite city so it is the only place I’ve lived that is in my top 5).
  • I spend 30 minutes a day indulging the bizarre side of my brain that thinks it’s a writer.
  • Sandler Boggs isn’t a real person.
  • I have however talked to Sandler Boggs.
  • Why do I care?
  • Shiny is a huge problem for me.
  • How much is too much.
  • I need a whiteboard.
  • Thursday’s are interesting days.

Today I just wonder.

A strange blogging experience lately. A fair percentage of my readers also have my email address. I have now gotten more comments this month in email than posted on the blog itself. That is the first month that has ever happened.

Nearly 40,000 hits on my two blogs now. If I add in my Podcast I am over 40,000 hits. That doesn’t include the newer safegov and IASA blogs and I don’t really keep the stats for those. The various poetry books of Sandler Boggs have sold more than 100 copies which I find amazing. The newest Sandler Boggs epic is coming soon. I suspect its about two to three months away now.

Nearing 4.5 million steps. I am about 30 days from the day I joined fitbit so at my current rate I have a slim outside shot at making 5 million steps in a year. I doubt it, but it will be pretty close. At the very least I really enjoy the fitbit and the new healthmiles programs. It really removes that rainy day I don’t want to walk effect.

We found a great state park yesterday near the house. Seneca Creek State park. Nice trails and very clean park. We walked around the lake, the Lab came with us. She was so tired when we got home that she couldn’t beg at dinner. She just lay on the floor and looked pitiful.

I can’t say there were as many people out over the weekend as I would have expected. I was out all three holiday “days” walking around the neighborhood and other than the pool, which was packed, there seemed to be fewer runners/walkers out and about. Normally on a 2 hour walk (about how long 7 miles takes) you would see 10-15 other folks out walking/running. Over the weekend I guess most of the runners either stayed indoors (it was freaking hot) or went somewhere for the weekend.

I am looking for an FM Radio and Cellular booster that will help with the reduced ability to receive Tmobile and FM radio in my office. I used to get decent FM reception and decent Tmo reception upstairs but now that I am on the ground floor I no longer get any reception for the radio and for the cell phone.

There has to be something that will do both.

Tuesday’s that are actually Monday’s aren’t as bad as Monday’s that are still Monday’s.

Let’s start today’s blog with a thank you. Thank you to everyone who has served our country. Your willingness to pay for our freedom makes this world a better place. May this day and every other bring you renewed strength and great joy.

I posted a couple of new podcasts on my podcast stream (available in the Zune Market place and on ITunes under the name DocAndersen in both). You can also connect to it directly above at my podbean hosted site).

For those of you waiting for a new Cloud Whisperer podcast one is in the works. It takes me a little time to get those put together. I did get your emails and will be posting that new one soon.

Same for the folks asking about Fred and Ed stories. I have one in the works but like the previous podcast it takes a little more time to build these. I have to practice them a few times before I can record and post them. The scary thing for me is that 24 years ago when I started telling Fred and Ed stories I could do them off the top of my head. Now I have to think about them. And I have real life twins to base some of the stories off of now.

Time to get rolling – nice to have a Monday off.

A tin ear

with hand cupped

waiting for the slink of meta

and hearing

the glass

crack ever so quietly

finds solace

in an empty cup

that once held rum

to lips red

scarlet lips

that sucked the rum

from pieces of fruit

and then in

lying the cup down

forget of the rum

forgot of the fruit

and moving onward

found the tin ear

parked by the door

in a tiny car

waiting for the horn to work

and the AAA to arrive

tiny tow truck to

carry the tin ear

to another party

to another time.

As the music played on

and the rum

sadly turned its back

and walked away…

We didn’t get the rescue lab

Sadness.

Sadie had been promised to another family so we didn’t get to go today. Its not the same as a family waiting for a baby for years but it still hurts a little. I guess it was the anticipation of a new family member that is now gone.

I am trying out the idea paint on the walls of the basement. When we lived in Indiana I had whiteboards on the walls which is a way I love to think things through. So this idea paint means you don’t have to have the whiteboard – just your wall. It is one of those what can it hurt experiments.

I will end the day on the same sad note. I was really looking forward to a new pal.

Its time for a rant!

Rant on!!!!!

  • The first thing is less weight on my back. I think it is finally time to go back to a rolling computer bag and stop trying to be 22 and carry the backpack.
  • A device I can carry that will do what I need when I need it easily without having to take my glasses off to look at the little screen. I know bifocals starts that process but the device in my hand still needs to do more!
  • Better integration between my phone and my car. Right now the iphone and the mini have great integration but I struggle connecting with the Toyota. It may be a small nit but it drives me nuts.
  • The next I “device” dropped on my desk will get the dropper a poke in the EYE.
  • I would like Ipods (other than the touch) to be able to do wi-fi sync. I have a great cube speaker for my ipod and would like to keep the device there in the kitchen for music etc. However to sync it (including the podcasts I like to listen to) I have to take it to my computer. It would be nice (hint Apple it would be really nice) to have a wi-fi enabled Ipod other than the touch – or a touch with enough space to keep my apps and my music/photos/videos
  • Can’t we all just change along? Let’s all move towards a single charging standard that allows you to connect any device to your USB port and charge it  easily.
    • No more “wall plug required”
    • No more multiple cables required
    • One cable to rule them all – and connected to USB charge them!
  • Stop SPAM.
  • Wait, stop specific SPAM. Some of it makes me laugh.
  • Stop redmonditis wherever it is.

Rant Off
