A tin ear

with hand cupped

waiting for the slink of meta

and hearing

the glass

crack ever so quietly

finds solace

in an empty cup

that once held rum

to lips red

scarlet lips

that sucked the rum

from pieces of fruit

and then in

lying the cup down

forget of the rum

forgot of the fruit

and moving onward

found the tin ear

parked by the door

in a tiny car

waiting for the horn to work

and the AAA to arrive

tiny tow truck to

carry the tin ear

to another party

to another time.

As the music played on

and the rum

sadly turned its back

and walked away…
