Ears filled with sand

Not hearing

filling with the grains of sand

each crammed into a small space a

tiny grain

silicon

pressed to its neighbor

crowded

jostling

seeking room

and egress

we can hear the sounds as we

traverse the cavern

but the sound

stops

on the other side of the sand

on the other side

of the room

lost and forgotten

the ears filled with sand

do not try

to hear

to comprehend

to recall

to understand

they are grains of sand

lost packages

and memoires

that are no more

and cannot hear

never hear.

Ears filled with sand

are silent.
