I wonder sometimes.

There have over the years been a number of comic strips, books and movies that focused on the world from a pet’s point of view. Last night, as I watched our yellow lab sitting in the living room I wondered. We changed our routine a little and her response was comic. She kept staring at us in the living room as we watched TV, trying to get us to go upstairs so she could go to bed. Her girl is on spring break and the lab is struggling with putting everything together this week.

Normally during the week she can be “mad” at the girl. With the girl gone she has to be mad at someone (it’s the female yellow lab thing, “I will allow you to love me now” thing).

So she sat in the living room imploring us to go to bed and not stay downstairs.

Like I said, sometimes I wonder.

Random Dog Thoughts

  • Why do I have to wait for them to feed me
  • Hey, how come you guys get to stick your hands into the popcorn bowl and I get yelled at when I stick my face in
  • You people leave food everywhere (said as she cleans the floor)
  • (sitting head cocked looking at a specific person) seriously are you that dumb?
  • I am not sure I understand that pack hierarchy – I get that I am in charge, but which one of you humans is?
  • Barking at strangers is the same as you yakking on the phone.
  • Dog food is ok, people food is so much better
  • excuse me, my water bowl is empty (followed by tail wagging and an imploring head toss)
  • I am sorry, my food bowl is empty (followed by bouncing, tail wagging and several imploring head tosses)
  • You may love me now, (followed by a head butt to the leg and then a do stranding right in front of you refusing to “mush mush”)

The Syncverse is now available on Amazon via their new KDP program. I now have a number of books available on Amazon with a few that are available for the Kindle only. (for those keeping track at home the number is actually 8).

I need to go through all the pictures we’ve taken since moving away from Indiana. I need to send a few to my mother and I need a few for the new space. I took several into the office (in one of those digital frames) but I need a few more. I like having pictures of when all three kids were cute. Once they learned to talk they stopped being cute.

We tried to go play tennis last night but it was to dark to fast and we found out you have to have a key. At least I got my association card so I can show people I am a resident.

Yesterday was the most interesting walk in a long time. 50 plus degrees, which is the perfect temperature for me to go walking, I don’t get all sweaty. I suspect because of the 40 or so extra pounds I am carrying, that I get more sweaty than most people. When it is 50 degrees outside I just feel better about walking – I don’t sweat. But yesterday was interesting for the fact that it started out really cloudy but by the time I got back to the house it was sunny and gorgeous.

The old Indiana adage – don’t like the weather wait 15 minutes it will change, appears to apply to Maryland as well.

We ended up heading out to RIO last night to go to Target and Dick’s. I needed a new pair of walking shoes, and Barb had to return a shirt that Nick didn’t like. We had dinner at Panera (not my favorite) and then did the shoe/shirt thing at RIO.

Time to get rolling – IU ball game in less than 50 minutes Smile.

If I had it all to do over again would I?

Not sure why that popped into my head right now, but it did. Wasn’t really even sure what I was thinking about when I said it. I did say it out loud which startled me out of my early morning sleepiness.

Oh well. The joy of having to much on your mind is sometimes you don’t know what 1/2 your brain is focused on.

I got one of the new digital picture frames for my office. It has a calendar and a then plays the pictures in the left corner of the screen. I have to say it is the coolest addition to my office so far. Now if I could only find an FM antenna that could pick up a signal so I could listen to my radio again my office would be perfect.

Seems funny to have an office. My dad had one at the university for years. I guess deep down inside I’ve always wanted one, just never really realized it. I had one for a bit at TFN but then really have only had home offices for most of the past few years. I’ve had lonely writers garrets in the basement of the past four houses we’ve owned. I guess Barb doesn’t like having me on the main level. Apparently I tend to spluge (her word) out of my space and would spluge the entire house if she let me.

December 13, 2011. Where has time gone?

Wind burn. A couple of weeks ago I thought I had poison ivy. In fact I have now realized thanks to WebMD that in fact what I had was wind burn. why? because I have the same problem again, and this time I was able to figure out the correlation. Both times I took a long walk outside with a very cold wind blowing. in the future I will wear my goggles to protect my eyes and nose.

I watched the IU game last night with Kentucky. As a fan I was nervous. I’ve watched the humiliating losses to Big Blue the past few years. Losses that just drove me to well frustration. Last night I saw a team come together. Sure this IU team is better talent wise than what Tom Crean got when he walked in the door, but the heart of the players from that first year makes this a stronger team. So far I’ve seen three games this year and I have enjoyed all three. I would have wished for a little more distance at the end from Kentucky but #Watford and the shot heard around college Bball was enough in the end.

There is a place for doing the right thing and ethics. Thanks Coach Crean!!!!!

Go IU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A few Friday Random Thoughts…

Just a little to the left.

A few random thoughts

  • Leaf identification. My father is a biologist (so I used to just ask him what a particular plant is/was but now the kids ask me – I don’t know, but luckily there is an application for that.)
  • The quest to replace the circular slide rule is now the quest to have a single system that covers everything I need on a daily basis from technology (I still need my Luke/Nick/Jackie/Barb hugs and my occasion Fran leans). That quest is one that ultimately is nearly complete. The devices available today actually fill 95% of my needs with only two devices. Once I can combine those into one the quest will be done.  Of course then I will have a new quest but that is a given.
  • Why does winter have to be so cold (I understand the whole sun, rays, bouncing thing but give me a break)
  • why does big bang theory seem to make me laugh every single week?
  • simple is, but complex confuses
  • who invented the gorilla pod and what would ever make you think to do something like that?
  • new naming convention for devices, version 1, 2, 3 ,4 and so on. No skipping numbers or adding letters.

Hang the picture!

I am struggling with the blank screen problem today. Its been awhile, I guess I am a verbose person. I usually have an opinion or at least something crazy to say. Today all I can do is think about this blank screen in front of me. That blinking cursor that alternatively says your empty, your full.

The kids and I continued our Friday night tradition of going out to dinner. A repeat last night as we returned to Rockafella’s a sports bar and grill near the house. The environment is friendly and nice. The food is good. You wouldn’t come to DC just to go there, but you would enjoy the food if you were already in the DC area.

The topic of conversation was focused mostly on the day’s field trip and a text conversation with the boy Jackie is dating.   We ended up taking home food for Barb as she was working late and missed the dinner hour.

Time to get rolling, I can’t stand this blinking cursor any longer.

2 million steps since June. 1000 total miles since then using the fitbit. Its really quite cool when you see the big numbers posted! imagine how many I could have if I still sleep walked.

The great phone shoot out begins today. HTC Titan and the Apple Iphone. Both running the latest OS. Both have interesting strengths and interesting weakness. I will try and post the review next week (probably Thursday or Friday).

I need to mow the side yard. I noticed that this morning as I walked to the garage.

I also noticed that some of the grass planted before we moved in, didn’t take. I will probably have to figure out a way to minimize the impact of water flow on the area where the grass seed needs to go.

Its only hours until the greatest holiday cartoon of all time. Featuring heart growth and well the all around canine star Max. My personal favorite (with Boris Karloff reading!)the Grinch that stole Christmas.

on that note, ttfn!
