The draft was a way to increase civility. Why not ask your current leader to stop calling names? That may be a faster path to increasing civility. Have a leader who starts civil and continues to be civil in addressing people.
Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country.
I do believe that national service is a good thing. However, I would argue that it isn’t always considered broadly enough. I would say we should take the top people every single year in school and have them be teachers for two years. Rotating people through our school system benefits our country more than any proposal in Project 2025. At best Project 2025 lives in a bubble—not a good bubble, a bad bubble. It doesn’t consider the impact of a mandatory military service structure.
First, increasing the size of the military would send a global message (we intend to use the military). It would also radically increase the cost of the DOD. To train and prepare soldiers to operate, you have to have training facilities.
If we consider that we are going to add 2-4 million new soldiers EVERY year, we are going to need 40 bases capable of supporting 100,000 plus new troops. This would place a significant strain on our resources and would cost millions of dollars to build them.
Tripling the military would not only triple the current cost for soldiers, but also impose a substantial financial burden on our economy.
Where does this money come from?
